My Alert Buddy ("MAB," "we," "us," or "our") provides fall detection, health monitoring, and caregiver-communication services through our mobile applications ("MAB Beacon" for members, "MAB Care" for caregivers), wearable/device integrations, and web dashboard (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account & Profile Information
- Name, phone number, email address
- Caregiver-member relationship data (primary/secondary caregiver roles, linked profiles)
- Invitation and verification data (invite codes, QR tokens)
2.2 Health & Motion Data
- Motion sensor data from iPhone (CoreMotion) — accelerometer, gyroscope, orientation
- Physiological and mobility data from Apple Watch (HealthKit) — steps, heart rate, gait metrics, activity levels
- Derived gait features, mobility baselines, and deviation/trend data
- Fall detection events and diagnostic session data
2.3 Location Data
- Real-time and historical device location, for geofencing and emergency alerts
2.4 Audio & Visual Data
- Two-way audio captured during emergency calls (WebRTC)
- Photos captured automatically during alert events
2.5 Device & Diagnostic Data
- Device identifiers, firmware/app version, sensor diagnostic logs, battery status, connectivity status
- Push notification tokens (APNs/FCM)
2.6 Communications Data
- SMS notifications sent to caregivers
- Voice prompt interactions and translated speech data
3. How We Use Your Information
- To detect falls, inactivity, and emergencies, and to notify caregivers
- To enable two-way audio communication during alerts
- To provide geofencing and location-based alerts
- To build personal health/mobility baselines and detect meaningful deviations
- To support multilingual voice prompts and translations
- To manage caregiver invitations, account roles, and access permissions
- To operate diagnostic and support tools (e.g., sensor diagnostics, flight recorder) for troubleshooting
- To improve fall detection accuracy and reduce false positives
- To send push and SMS notifications related to safety events
4. How We Share Information
Caregivers: Health, location, motion, audio, and photo data related to a member is shared with that member's linked caregiver(s) as part of the Service's core function.
Service Providers: We use third-party infrastructure providers, including:
- Cloud storage (e.g., AWS S3) for photos and diagnostic data, subject to storage lifecycle/retention policies
- Cloudflare TURN servers to facilitate WebRTC audio connections
- Apple Push Notification service (APNs) and Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) for notifications
- SMS delivery providers for text alerts
Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of a member during an emergency.
We do not sell personal information to third parties.
5. Data Retention
Health, motion, location, audio, and photo data are retained according to configured storage lifecycle and retention policies, after which data may be archived or deleted. Diagnostic session data may be retained longer for quality and safety review purposes.
6. Your Choices & Rights
- Caregivers and members may review, update, or delete account and profile information through the app.
- You may disable specific sensor permissions (motion, location, microphone, camera) via device settings, which may limit fall detection and emergency features.
- You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us (see Section 10).
- Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have additional rights (e.g., under GDPR or CCPA/CPRA).
7. Data Security
We implement technical and organizational safeguards, including encrypted transmission (WebRTC, HTTPS/TLS), access controls (role-based caregiver/admin permissions), and secure cloud storage. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service may be used to monitor members of any age, including older adults or individuals with health needs, under the supervision of an adult caregiver. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children without caregiver/guardian involvement.
9. International Users
If you access the Service from outside our primary operating country, your information may be transferred to and processed in other countries with different data protection laws.
